Hi,

I am trying to deploy a chart report to our test server. I have installed the server components, but I am unable to see the chart on a rendered report. In the development environment the chart shows fine, but not when deployed to the server.

Hi Haven,

There is a small security issue in the server component Nevron.ReportingServices.Chart.dll. The assembly was not signed by the build system during the latest build, which in turns prevents the RS server from granting FullTrust to the assembly. This causes the report item to be blank in deployed reports. The issue is fixed and we'll be uploading a SP tomorrow.

Best regards,
Bob

Is the fix ready for download yet? Where would I obtain it?

Thanks.

Hello Haven,

We have just released Nevron Chart for SSRS 2009 Vol.1 SP3 and it is now available for download.

Downloads: http://www.nevron.com/Downloads.Download.aspx

To download the latest service pack, you have to login to your user account.

Fixes in Nevron Chart for SSRS 2009 Vol.1 SP3:

- An assembly signing problem for the Nevron.ReportingServices.Chart.dll preventing the Reporting Services server from granting required permissions on the server. This bug causes blank chart report items for deployed reports

- Overlapping of report items in chart examples. This bug causes blank chart report items for deployed reports

- Database install wizard now uses ODBC to detect available SQL server instances. The previous version used SQL Management Object which may not always be present or registered on the machine

Please, do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or if you require assistance.

Kind regards,

Nevron Support Team

Best Regards,

Hi,

I have downloaded and installed both the studio and server elements. I can design a chart and dial and preview it without a problem. When I deploy the report, there are no controls on it - this is with RSVisionVol22009VS2005.zip.

Do I need to install a service pack?

This is the evaluation version.

Regards

Simon

Hi Simon,

Is the report server located on a different machine - if so you need to install the server components on this machine as well. Also what is the version of SSRS on the server 2005 or 2008?

Best regards,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Think I've answered my own question - looking in the log file I can't have custom report extensions in SQL Server Express, so it's not going to work. I'll need to upgrade first to the tune of £5000! Ouch.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Regards

Simon

Hi Simon,

Nevron Reporting Services controls require "Custom report items" and "Custom data processing, delivery, and rendering extensions", which do not come with Microsoft SQL Server and Reporting Services Express. According to Microsoft the following SQL Server Editions will work with our controls:

- SQL Server Enterprise Edition

- SQL Server Developer Edition

- SQL Server Standard Edition

I am not sure about the SQL Server license pricing, you can take a look at:

SQL Server 2005: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/en/us/pricing.aspx

SQL Server 2008: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/pricing.aspx

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Christo
