Best Practices for Using Matrix Barcodes

Choose the Right Barcode Type
Choose a matrix barcode type, such as QR Code or Data Matrix, that supports your data and is recognized by the intended scanners.

Leave Clear Margins
Keep the required quiet zone clear around the barcode. Follow the margin requirements for the selected barcode type.

Keep Modules Sharp
Render each module as a clear, uniform square at a size suitable for the printer or display. Avoid stretching the barcode or resampling it in ways that blur the module edges.

Use Strong Contrast
Use dark modules on a plain, light background. Keep logos, labels, and decorative effects outside the barcode so they do not interfere with scanning.

Test the Encoded Data
Scan the final output using the intended devices and confirm that the decoded text or link is correct. Test at the size and under the conditions in which the barcode will be used.
