NOV Diagram for .NET generates scalable vector graphics and high-resolution raster images from drawings.
Image previews, configurable resolution, and control over exported content help users prepare diagrams for sharing, publishing, and use in other applications.
The following sections introduce the main image generation features.
Image Preview
An advanced image preview is available out of the box, allowing users to inspect vector and raster output before exporting a drawing to a file or the clipboard.
The preview provides control over the following settings:
Export canvas size — Specifies the dimensions of the output canvas.
Export area — Exports the full canvas, the current selection, or a user-defined area. The export area can also be adjusted visually in the preview.
Image scaling — Controls the scale applied to the exported content, allowing raster images to be generated at a user-specified DPI.
For each image export format, the preview also provides access to format-specific image generation settings.
Vector Export (SVG, EMF, and DXF)
Export drawings to SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), EMF (Enhanced Metafile), and DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) for use in AutoCAD and other CAD applications.
Vector geometry remains sharp when scaled, making vector output suitable for printing and high-resolution displays.
Raster Image Export (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and BMP)
Export drawings as raster images in PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and BMP formats.
Configurable resolution in dots per inch (DPI) allows users to generate detailed images for print or choose a resolution suited to on-screen display.
Non-Exportable Shapes
Individual shapes can be excluded from generated images while remaining visible during editing.
This allows users to keep design notes, reference elements, and other editing aids in the drawing without including them in the exported output.
