.NET Chart Light Effects

Light and Material Effects

Nevron Chart allows you to configure the light model used when the control renders in 3D. The light model allows for multiple light sources with controllable type, position, and direction. Both light sources and chart scene objects (like Bars, chart walls, etc.) also expose material properties that provide controllable ambient, diffuse, specular, and emissive components. Those material components define how light sources emit light and how different objects reflect or absorb that light. By utilizing lighting and material effects, you can produce more realistic charts that better match the visualized domain (for example, terrain charts), or simply use them to enhance the visual appeal in the case of business and presentation charts.

Best Practices for Using Lighting and Materials

Avoid Overuse
Lighting effects should not dominate the chart. Subtle effects can add depth and realism without distracting the user from the data.

Improve Contrast
Ensure that lighting effects enhance the contrast between different chart elements, making them easier to distinguish and interpret.
